Biblical Resources

Part of  Partnership For Training Pastors’ vision is the development of biblical resources for less-resourced people. Below are the descriptions of  developed resources for use in training of God’s people. Our yearly budget includes an amount for translation and publication of materials. Pray with us that many more resources will be developed in the years ahead.

Writing Projects Since 2015

Promises to Christ’s Faithful Followers – One of our main missions is to develop and provide material for equipping and discipling believers. Our recent focus is on two books entitled Promises to Christ’s Faithful Followers which are translated into Luganda, Langi and Swahili.  These books are used in churches and small groups for discipleship of Ugandans.  Additional material will be developed over the next few years to continue the discipleship process.

Developing Books Three and Four – With the valued response to both Promises to Christ’s Faithful Followers books, there is momentum to develop additional study guides for churches throughout Uganda. In August, it was determined that these books should provide insight into the God we worship. Like most Majority World people, Ugandans don’t question that there is a God.  The real question is – “What is this God like?” For that reason, Pastor Andrew, Joyce, and Dave are beginning to write lessons on the character and nature of God as revealed in the Scriptures. Please pray that the truth of “who God is” will be captured and easily applied to the cultural milieu of villages and cities across Uganda.

Curriculum for Emerging Leader Training involves the development of material for eight Seminars to be taught across Uganda. These Seminars pull together Old and New Testaments overviews, theological presentations, leadership principles, character development, church policies and discipleship emphasis. Presently, several units of the Seminar curriculum are located on the “Ministry Focus” page of this website.

The Pastoral Epistle Devotional is being developed for Ugandan pastors and emerging leaders. It is designed to be used as a daily devotional with material developed from 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus.  The devotionals are translated into Luganda.

Training The Trainers Project provides biblical material for the participants. Each session has a biblical emphasis with the most recent one offering resources on the Acts of the Apostles and the study of NewTestament Epistles. These notes are placed in a Notebook that each student can access for study and use in their training of others. The three-year Project was completed in November 2019 with a graduation ceremony in Kampala, Uganda. Since then, the Trainees are teaching others in their regions.

Printing of a book on “The Holy Spirit” in Uganda. Written by Pastor Andrew Mwenge, an initial printing was published for the February 13-15, 2018 Training the Trainers Project Session in Kampala, Uganda.  More conversations are needed for additional copie to be printed.

Printing of a Study Guide on The Sermon on the Mount.  Studied in Uganda in January 2018, this teaching section from Mathew’s Gospel touches so many essential truths needed in Majority World and Western World Churches. This Sermon was studied in a Zambia (October 2018) and in a Pastors’ Conference in Haiti (November, 2018).

African Bible Commentary Distribution

Over the years, more than 100 African Bible Commentaries have been distributed to pastors in Uganda and Zambia.   Written by 70 African church leaders and academics, this resource brings biblical insights for each of the Bibles’ 66 books as well as wisdom for addressing the sticky cultural issues found in African countries.

Singing the Story

One way to get the Bible into hearts and minds of believers is to write songs that have a Scriptural emphasis.  In August of 2015, “Partnerships” provided financial resources to record the music of Harriet Nandawula and Goretth Ssenyojo with the final CD product to become available at Masaka’s January 2016 Pastors Conference.  This music is designed to be a resource for Lugandan speaking churches and individuals. The back cover of the CD (see Music CD below) provides a picture of the Masaka Baptist Church choir, as well as Gorretth and Harriett.  Pray for the use of these songs throughout the Masaka region and beyond.    Music CD            English Translation of Uganda CD

Yesu Christo Mu Cipango Ca Kale –   Christ in the Old Testament

“Partnerships”training in Zambia has been focused on this theme.  For each session, we provide a packet of material that summarizes and provides the big picture of the gospel in the Old Testament. By the end of our sessions in 2018, we hope to compile this material into a usable Bemba/English Language resource for Zambian pastors and church leaders.  Keep praying for the development work on this important project.

2 Timothy Study Guide

Paul’s second letter to Timothy, the young pastor of the Ephesian Church, is one of the most important New Testament books for Emerging Church Leaders.  In this book, one finds the emotional impetus, as well as theological backbone, for developing young church leaders.  Developed for study in Uganda and Indonesia, this Study Guide  is being fine tuned for future use. Please pray that this material will continue to encourage men and women in their pursuit of God’s calling to serve God’s people.

Ebisuubizo Eri Abagoberezi Ba Kristo Abesigwa – Book 1

The English title, “Promises to Christ’s Faithful Followers”, reflects the contents of this discipleship material developed by Pastor Andrew Mwenge.  Lesson titles include: Your New Life in Christ;  Fellowships With God and His Son Jesus Christ; God’s Word; Jesus Savior, Lord and Master; and Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Using Scripture extensively, this book is a resource for individual and groups study.  Partnerships For Training Pastors provided resources for the Luganda translation from the original English version.

The Bible on God and Money

Pastor Andrew Mwenge has put together 12 lessons to guide the user in understanding the character of God and His mind on money matters.  Partnerships for Training Pastors provided some financial resources to help translate and publish this material in the Luganda language.

Handbook for Church Ceremonies

Pastor Andrew Mwenge has compiled this Handbook as a practical resource for pastors.  The topics include weddings, funerals, baptisms, the Lord’s Supper, and other important ceremonies of church life.  Translated from English to Luganda, the final version is still awaiting copyright approval on a few sections. Please pray that we can publish this Handbook soon.
