Seminar 5- The Church

Seminar 5 is about the Living Church as described in Scripture and is being applied today across the world. Each session will bring the student to the heart of church life as suggested in Acts 2:42-47. The essence of the local and global church includes biblical teaching and preaching, fellowship and compassion, worship, prayer, evangelism, mission and discipleship. All this accomplished through a new community ethic established in Jesus Christ, who is the head of the church, which is the body of Christ. These sessions provide an overview of these themes with the call for students to apply them in the local areas where God has planted his church.

Seminar 4 – Servant Leadership for Today

Seminar 4 is a Seminar developed for training Pastors and Emerging Leaders in Uganda. The major themes of character and competence are emphasized throughout the nine sessions. Part 1 includes The Character of a Leader, Growing as a Leader (with separate attached leader document for page 8), Leadership Lessons and Traits Learned from Biblical Characters, and Pursuing a Life of Servant Leadership.  Part 2 begins with a Review of the Nehemiah Assignment, followed by sessions on Leading and Mentoring Others in Ministry, Managing Conflicts in Ministry, Playing With Fire – Leadership Temptations.  The final Session is Pursuing Christ-Like Leadership and includes an opportunity for personal evaluation.  These sessions are the tip of a long list of potential leadership topics that could be studied, but are deemed essential for developing less-resourced church leaders as they serve in the locations that God has placed them.

Seminar Three offers five sessions that address the need for sound biblical and theological understanding in a world where the noise of false teachers is growing louder. Session 1 involves students in developing a personal statement of faith after reflecting on the Apostles Creed and Kampala Baptist Church’s statement. Session 2 considers and emphasizes the difference between sound doctrine and false doctrine. Session 3 involves diagnosing false doctrine but offering several tests to identify false teachers today. Session 4 provides case studies for students to evaluate non-biblical thinking. Session 5 identifies how false doctrine and their extremes infiltrate and undermine the Gospel and the church.
